A funny little tale and caution for Capsicum Powder :). The Capsicum Powder we carry, also known as cayenne or chili pepper, is 90,000 hu(heat units). It's hot, REALLY hot, most of the cayenne you buy for cooking is around 40,000 hu. So yes, this stuff is really really hot. Cayenne has some great health benefits*, including but not limited to: boosting metabolism, arthritis relief, migraine relief, weight loss aide, lower blood pressure, improving digestion, etc etc. But as we're a Spiritual shop we originally and continue to provide herbs & spices based on their Spiritual properties. Capsicum is great to add to your other herbs when creating incenses for rituals, it works to help "speed up" the results you are trying to achieve.
Our 20 year old, like hubby, is very much into Magick, so while "creating" last night I told him he should do a prosperity spell for us all, we could really use all the help we can get right now. Bless his heart, he did just that. While he was sitting there creating and burning he started coughing a lot, having just got over a cold I thought he must just be having a lingering coughing fit. Until hubby and I started coughing too, and couldn't stop! I finally figured it had to be something he burned and asked him what he had been burning. Yep, it had Capsicum in it. Through his coughing fits my husband informed him that he had essentially just created tear gas in the house lol. He said he used maybe 1/2 tsp, so let this be a warning to all, if adding a cayenne of this heat, only add the tiniest little bit lol. Whether or not the extra amount means his intentions will manifest that much faster we will watch and see ;). *We do practice herbalism, but are not Dr's, these benefits are based upon what this particular herb/spice has been historically used for. Always consult your Dr. To see our full list of herbs and spices we carry, please visit our shopping page and click on "herbs" from the "shop" menu at the top of the page.
